Another reminder that the crits which were due to start tomorrow night have been delayed by a week or two due to the recent rain. Check back here early next week to see if they are on next Wednesday night.

CRITS - DELAYED START DATE
Due to the amount of rain we've had recently, I think it best that we delay the start of the Spring crit series by a week or two.
Keep an eye out on the club website for more updates, and when things dry out a little we'll get started.

Ant, at least with all this rain its shown us which sections of trail to concentrate on for future trailwork maintenance as far as drainage is concerned.

I have my Giant Anthem 0 for sale. It is in good condition, has a new drive train of only 3 to 4 rides ago - new sprockets - new chain - new small chainring. New unused giant seat post, new unused Fizik saddle. Mavic CrossMax tubeless wheel set, Fox forks & shock. It is used but has been well maintained. There is a pic of it up on the MTBA website at.

Word on the street is that some of the tracks out towards Centaur Rd end of town are getting sloppy as well.

Please ride responsibly and if there are tracks that should be left alone for the meantime, post the details here.

Just got back from a walk around the Range Rd tracks to see what shape they're in - after another 40mm of rain yesterday.

Shelobs and Easy-Up are still very wet - Shelobs is still closed - Easy Up the better line is along the top of the aquaduct wall.

Roxy's is wet wet wet - everyone's favourite berm is a swimming pool, and even the B-line is underwater.

Most of the higher tracks (Intestine, Luge etc) are holding up very well, with only a few puddles in a couple of spots.

If you're out riding, it might pay to keep off the wet and soggy trails (who wants a muddy bike anyway), and please don't ride *around* the puddles, as this only widens the trail and causes more damage.

We're hoping to schedule some trailwork in the next couple of weeks, and I'd hope to get stuck into some of the sections that need better drainage.

Might be a good idea to stick to the firetrails and higher trails for a couple of weeks!

JFK,
count me in to help with the DH event as a marshall, you can contact me on cdwayenberg@bigpond.com or 0458432501. I would have loved to race but being new to the club I don't have the required safety gear. so helping would still get me close to the action [:star:]

Ask not what your MTB club can do for you but what you can do for your club. Wise words those for a US president; they don't normally say smart things.

Heads up people

There is a downhill event on Nail Can Hill coming up on 24th October and we need heaps of helpers.
We need volunteers for this as we do at any MTB event. If you are racing then bring along a family member or friend please to help out marshalling cooking on the BBQ or driving one of the buses.
Marshalling gets you close to the action. The marshalling stations are at the best spots along the course: Castle, Burnt Stump Corner, Dust Bowl, Car Park Bowl and the Doubles.
For the mums and dads who come to watch their pride and joy, take up a position on the track as a marshal.....it sure beats sitting at the bottom in a deck chair all day long.
Marshalls are provided with a two-way radio, a high vis vest, map, water and food. Shifts can be from an hour to the whole day, it’s your choice. I marshalled the Castle all day because the action was full on and the photographic opportunities were great.
How about driving one of the minibuses (normal car licence will do). How often do you get to drive on Nail Can Hill where someone else provides the vehicle and fuel!
Helping out on a DH event is truly rewarding especially if you have someone competing in the event.
Come people.........We (I) need you! (Another US president quote)
For you XC riders out there contemplating competing a DH race I would say give it a go. If you rode the Super D the other week you can ride the DH. The club has full face helmets for members use.
